Actor assault case: Court officials will be questioned

The Crime Branch team, which is conducting further probe into the actor’s assault case, is set to question the court officials in connection with the alleged illegal access to memory cards containing the scenes of the alleged assault.

The investigation team had approached the Principal Sessions Court, where the trial of the case is going on, and requested the court’s sheristadar, evidence clerk and other officers to be interrogated, if required.

The court, which had custody of the memory card, granted the permission on April 4, according to a submission filed by the investigating officer before the high court on April 7.

Permission was sought after the probe team found that the memory card was illegally accessed and its ‘hash value’ was tampered with during court custody. (The hash value refers to the numerical value used to uniquely identify the data.)

Reportedly, it was also found that a petition filed by the CB before the High Court stated that the date of final access was changed from February 18, 2017 to December 13, 2018.

Earlier, the trial court had also directed the investigating officer to submit the details of alleged illegal use of memory card in a sealed cover.

The survivor of the case had also written to the Supreme Court and the Chief Minister expressing her concern about the alleged leak of the attack scenes.
