The ‘Bigg Boss’ star talks about being a part of Nelson and Sivakarthikeyan’s ‘Doctor’ as well as their upcoming horror-thriller, and more

were you a fan of horror fans before signing Raise? Is there any particular film that you took inspiration from before the shoot started?

It makes me feel responsible that there is an audience out there who loves to see me on screen and supports me; Now I need to focus on doing my job and only on that.

as soon as i left Big Boss home, I started shooting Raise. We completed the film in about 20-days, and then it went into post-production. I was eagerly waiting for the release, but Pandemic had a different plan. After that, I grew my hair and put on weights for another project, but unfortunately, that fell out. It just goes to show that I am still in that phase where everything is still uncertain and we really have nothing in our hands. (sigh)

However, I am working on a web-series right now, and if all goes well then the shooting of my next film should start in December.

I’ll definitely admit that I’m nervous about how Raise will be received. If this kind of style had not been attempted before, I would have been horrified. But the horror-thrillers I have mentioned earlier have done really well and have been loved by the audience. Also, when the script came to me, I thought it was just my second film and that I shouldn’t think too much about it: I liked the material, and I believed that if done right, it would work with the audience. Your biggest selling point is your flair for feel-good, relatable humor. Although your comeback film is a horror-thriller. Will you be acting in a comedy soon?
I am a very funny person in real life! I grew up with my cousins, and we constantly tease and tease each other; I am used to this kind of humor in any environment. But my biggest inspiration for comedy is a man: Nelson Anna (Director of doctor And Animal)
His humor is in a whole new league. He’s the funniest person I know, and keeps on giving me constant advice that we need to look at the funny side of things, to get to know life.

Why did you decide to be Sivakarthikeyan’s AD doctor At this stage of your career?

Actually, my biggest acting inspiration is also Nelson. when the audience saw Kolamavu Nightingale, he saw all those different interesting characters. You were present at the launch of Nelson’s next project, Vijay Animal. Are you acting in a film?
It’s true: I’m not part of Animal in any capacity. It took initial talks for me to get involved, but then my solo projects took shape, and I started focusing on them instead. However, it was always my dream to watch a big budget film shoot just like little kids watching planes take off. I never imagined that I would get a chance to meet Vijay sir in person. So whenever possible, I go to the sets of Animal Just to take in all the sights and sounds; It still continues to amaze me.
