Excerpts from an interview:

were you a fan of horror fans before signing Raise? Is there any particular film that you took inspiration from before the shoot started?

Horror is a genre that everyone enjoys; It gives you the ultimate adrenaline rush. Since childhood I have fond memories of watching movies like this eval dead Back-to-back franchise with your family at home. still we all go to see together Magic Chain.

For Raise However, I took the most inspiration from films like these Pizza (Kavin, in fact, plays a cameo in the Karthik Subbaraj-directed) and Hindi film trapped in, both follow the story of a boy stranded alone in a strange place. I also went back to see Madhavan sir’s performance yavarum nalmi, in which he is quite extraordinary.

your journey Big Boss It was full of drama and a lot of controversy, but it made you a huge fan. Do you have any regrets about participating in the show?

Of course no regrets! Like you said, if I have any visibility today and have very low expectations from my film, it’s because big boss tamil. In fact, I am a bit shocked and emotional that people remember me for so long after the show ended. It makes me feel responsible that there is an audience out there who loves to see me on screen and supports me; Now I need to focus on doing my job and only on that.

Your term has exceeded two years Big BossFinished; Why did it take you so long to see you on screen again?

as soon as i left Big Boss home, I started shooting Raise. We completed the film in about 20-days, and then it went into post-production. I was eagerly waiting for the release, but Pandemic had a different plan. After that, I grew my hair and put on weights for another project, but unfortunately, that fell out. It just goes to show that I am still in that phase where everything is still uncertain and we really have nothing in our hands. (sigh)

Amrita Iyer and Kavin in a scene from the movie

However, I am working on a web-series right now, and if all goes well then the shooting of my next film should start in December.

like a movie RaiseWith you as the main focus, the actor should be spot on with every expression and dialogue. There is no supporting cast to distract the attention of the audience. Does this put pressure on you?

I’ll definitely admit that I’m nervous about how Raise will be received. If this kind of style had not been attempted before, I would have been horrified. But the horror-thrillers I have mentioned earlier have done really well and have been loved by the audience. Also, when the script came to me, I thought it was just my second film and that I shouldn’t think too much about it: I liked the material, and I believed that if done right, it would work with the audience. Will do Based on the response our trailer has received, I feel more confident now.

Your biggest selling point is your flair for feel-good, relatable humor. Although your comeback film is a horror-thriller. Will you be acting in a comedy soon?

I am a very funny person in real life! I grew up with my cousins, and we constantly tease and tease each other; I am used to this kind of humor in any environment. But my biggest inspiration for comedy is a man: Nelson Anna (Director of doctor And Animal)

His humor is in a whole new league. He’s the funniest person I know, and keeps on giving me constant advice that we need to look at the funny side of things, to get to know life.

and though Raise There is a bit of situational comedy (he refers to the last scene in the trailer), obviously the scope for jokes in such a script is limited. But I definitely aspire to do an all-out comedy soon; Making someone laugh is a blessing, which I consider to be the best form of entertainment.

Why did you decide to be Sivakarthikeyan’s AD doctor At this stage of your career?

i know nelson Anna For a decade now. Before my acting career took off, I used to spend all my time in his office; This is another kind of home for me. When nothing was working for me, it was he who gave me the opportunity to become an assistant director, and simultaneously try my luck as an actor. Would anyone else do this? He wanted me to wait patiently – with him by my side – and overcome every obstacle. I am indebted to him and Sivakarthikeyan Anna (who sang inna milus For RaiseSo much for helping me in many phases of life.

Actually, my biggest acting inspiration is also Nelson. when the audience saw Kolamavu Nightingale, he saw all those different interesting characters. But I saw Nelson in all of them, be it Nayanthara or Yogi Babu or even a child. He’s an incredible actor, and I learned a lot from the way he narrates and performs a scene. he is going to see Raise and indicate how much I copied from him (laughing)

You were present at the launch of Nelson’s next project, Vijay Animal. Are you acting in a film?

It’s true: I’m not part of Animal in any capacity. It took initial talks for me to get involved, but then my solo projects took shape, and I started focusing on them instead. However, it was always my dream to watch a big budget film shoot just like little kids watching planes take off. I never imagined that I would get a chance to meet Vijay sir in person. So whenever possible, I go to the sets of Animal Just to take in all the sights and sounds; It still continues to amaze me.
