Actress Rakhi Sawant was on Thursday detained by the Mumbai Police for allegedly circulating inappropriate videos and pictures of another actor on social media.
The arrest was made on the complaint of model-actress Sherlyn Chopra. Ms. Sawant was charged with Indian Penal Code sections 354A (unwanted physical contact and advances in the nature of sexual harassment or demand or request for sexual favours by showing pornography), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) Case has been registered under. a woman) and 504 (Insult intended to provoke breach of the peace) and provisions of the Information Technology Act.
Ms Sawant had filed an anticipatory bail plea before a sessions court in Mumbai on Wednesday, but it was rejected. He was arrested by the Amboli police on Thursday.
The tussle between Ms. Sawant and Ms. Chopra has been going on since last year. According to the police, in November 2022, they had filed a complaint against each other for using objectionable language.
