Sukanya, who has composed several poems in Tamil, has penned the song for the upcoming movie DNA.
Actress Sukanya who predominantly works in Tamil films has also made her name in Telugu and Malayalam film industries. She played pivotal roles in some of the hit and superhit movies of the Malayalam film industries like Chandralekha, Rakthasakshikal Sindabad, Kaanaakkinaavu, Sagaram Sakshi, Prem Poojari and other movies. The actress last worked in the Malayalam movie industry for the film Aamayum Muyalum in 2014. Since then, the Malayali fans of the actress have been impatiently waiting for the comeback of the actress.
After a hiatus of a decade, Sukanya has finally returned to the Malayalam industry but not as the heroine. The actress has now turned into a lyricist for the movie DNA which is directed by TS Suresh Babu.
Sukanya, who has composed several poems in Tamil, has penned the song for the upcoming movie DNA. She has written a Tamil song for the film. In the latest interview during the promotion of the movie, TS Suresh Babu said that the actress learned to write poetry while she was acting in the Malayalam serial Kadamattathu Kathanar.
TS Suresh Babu wrote the story of this serial and it is speculated that the filmmaker discovered the writing talent of the actress during the filming of the serial. “When there was a need for a Tamil song in DNA, the first thought was none other than Sukanya,” said TS Suresh Babu. He also said that the actress gladly accepted this role and wrote a Tamil song for the movie DNA. As per the media reports, the name of the song is Kannallane Kanatharum and is composed by music director Sharreth. The vocals for the song are given by Karthik and Archa.
Benzy Productions, the official production banner behind the movie shared a video a few months back in which actress Sukanya and music composer Sharreth were seen together at the recording studio.
Mammootty’s nephew Ashkar Soudan is playing the main lead role in the movie. The movie also stars Aju Varghese, Indrans, Johny Antony and Namitha Pramod in pivotal roles. As per the reports, DNA is expected to be a forensic thriller with intense action sequences.
Being a trained Bharatanatyam dancer, Sukanya has also choreographed the dance performance in the hit movie Thooval Kottaram apart from playing the lead role in the movie. The film was directed by Sathyan Anthikad and starred Jayaram and Sukanya in lead roles. It was released in 1996.
