Adampur by-election in Haryana: Only one nomination paper filed so far

The ruling BJP on Saturday declared Bhavya Bishnoi, son of party leader Kuldeep Bishnoi, as its candidate for the bypoll.

An independent candidate on Monday filed his nomination papers for the by-elections to Adampur assembly constituency in Haryana to be held on November 3. The resignation of Kuldeep Bishnoi as Congress MLA in August led to a by-election for Adampur seat in Hisar district. He had joined the BJP on 4 August.

Adampur Assembly Constituency Returning Officer Subhash Chander said that an independent candidate filed his nomination papers on Monday. The process of filing nomination papers for the by-elections began on October 7.

Chander said that the candidates will be able to file nomination papers till October 14 between 11 am to 3 pm at the office of District Development and Panchayat Officer Hisar located on the first floor of the Mini Secretariat complex. After scrutiny of nomination papers, on 15 October, nomination can be withdrawn till 17 October. Voting for the by-election will be held on November 3 from 7 am to 6 pm. Counting of votes will take place on November 6.

Among the major parties, the ruling BJP had on Saturday declared Bhavya Bishnoi, son of party leader Kuldeep Bishnoi, as its candidate for the bypoll. On Friday, the Aam Aadmi Party had declared Satendra Singh as the party’s candidate for the Adampur by-election. Singh, who was earlier with the BJP, had joined AAP in Hisar last month in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Bhavya Bishnoi, who contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Hisar, also quit the Congress in August.
