Adani Agri Logistics Ltd recently won a contract from state-owned FCI to build four silo complexes in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, the company announced on Friday. The state-of-the-art silo complexes will be built at four locations – Kanpur, Gonda and Sandila in Uttar Pradesh and Katihar in Bihar. The total silo storage capacity will be 3.5 lakh tonnes.
The Food Corporation of India (FCI) awarded the contract to Adani Agri Logistics Limited after competitive bidding.
“Currently, farmers are forced to deal with a waiting period of two to three days while their agricultural produce makes its way through the traditional farm-to-mandi procurement chain. With the implementation of this project, processing The time will be cut. Only one to two hours. This will greatly improve the procurement efficiency.”
This project will benefit the common consumers and the beneficiaries of PDS (Public Distribution System), besides there will be substantial savings on labor cost, sacking and transportation.
The silo complex will be executed under Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) mode.
With a storage capacity of 3.50 lakh tonnes, Adani Agri Logistics Limited will now have a total of 15.25 lakh tonnes.
Silo complexes, which are mechanized and automated units equipped with temperature and humidity control, are designed to handle, store and preserve food grains. The handling process from procurement to transportation is done in bulk through containerized movement.
