Adulterated and stale: Food items worth ₹67k seized | Noida News – Times of India

NOIDA: The Food Safety and Drug Administration department has seized food items worth Rs 67,000 and issued a total fine of Rs 14,500 on food shops and stalls in unhygienic conditions. The department had started the campaign in Gautam Budh Nagar on September 26 in view of Navratri celebrations.
“During the drive, we collected a total of 37 samples of food items which have been sent for testing. The campaign ended on 3 October. After Dussehra, another campaign will start which will focus on adulteration of sweets and other food items usually made around Diwali,” said Akshay Goyal, Chief Food Safety Officer, GB Nagar.
As preparations for Diwali begin, doctors have issued a warning against adulterated food. They say that the use of processed sugar and colored chemicals is leading to infertility, type 2 diabetes and even stroke. In the case of obese women, the risk is higher.
