Aero India: Sale of non-vegetarian food banned within 10 km of the show venue

Aero India 2023: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) passed an order banning the sale of non-vegetarian food within 10 km of Yelahanka Air Force Station in view of the Aero India show on January 27.

According to the order, meat stalls, non-vegetarian hotels and restaurants will remain closed from January 30 to February 20.

Aero India show will run from 13 to 17 February.

“This is to the notice of general public and owners of meat stalls, non-vegetarian hotels and restaurants to close all meat/chicken/fish shops and to ban serving/sale of non-vegetarian dishes within 10 km radius of the Air Force Station. Yelahanka from January 30 to February 20”, the BBMP order said.

Any violation of this would be punishable under BBMP Act-2020 and Rule 91 of the Indian Aircraft Rules 1937.

BBMP officials told ANI that the decision was taken because non-vegetarian food spread in public places attracts a lot of scavenging birds, especially kites, which can cause accidents in the air.

Aero India has stated in its website that a total of 731 exhibitors have registered out of which 633 are Indian and 98 are foreign. Earlier in 2021, delegates from over 55 countries and over 540 exhibitors participated.

PM Modi will inaugurate the biennial airshow. Being one of the premier aerospace exhibition, Aero India has organized 13 successful editions since 1996 in Bengaluru.

The five-day event will also include a major trade exhibition of the aerospace and defense industries as well as an aerial display by the Indian Air Force. Apart from global leaders and big investors in the aerospace industry, think tanks from across the world will also participate in the show.

Aero India will provide a unique opportunity for exchange of information, ideas and new developments in the aviation industry. Apart from giving a boost to the domestic aviation industry, it will give a boost to Make in India.
