Earthquake: Many people came to the open places of residential buildings after the tremors were felt for some time.

Strong tremors were felt in several north Indian states for about two minutes after a 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck the Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan on Tuesday evening. This was the second earthquake in Afghanistan today.

According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake occurred 133 km southeast of Faizabad in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan is frequently affected by earthquakes, especially in the Hindu Kush mountain range, which is located near the junction of the Eurasian and Indian tectonic plates.

Earthquake tremors were also felt in various cities of Pakistan.

Videos shared on social media showed people gathering in the streets and people reported falling objects inside their homes.

Many people came to the open spaces of residential buildings as the tremors were felt for some time.

There was no immediate report of death or injury.

Soon, #earthquake found itself on the trending spot. People in India started posting pictures from their homes, showing how things shook out. It soon turned into a meme fest.

Mobile services were disrupted in parts of the Jammu region soon after the quake, news agency PTI quoted an official as saying.

A Noida resident said that he first noticed the shaking of the dining table. “Immediately after this we noticed that fans were also shaking. The earthquake was strong in intensity and lasted for a long duration,” a resident of Hyde Park Society in Noida was quoted as saying by PTI.
