After Amit Shah’s push for Hindi, Tamil Nadu BJP chief says “won’t give permission”

Home Minister Amit Shah stresses the need to accept Hindi as an alternative to English

Chennai:

Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai on Tuesday said the state BJP unit would not allow Hindi to be imposed or accepted.

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Annamalai said, “The Tamil Nadu BJP will not allow Hindi to be imposed in the state. The party will be proud if Tamil is a link language in our country.”

He alleged that Congress tried to impose Hindi language but even then it was opposed.

The BJP leader’s statement comes after Union Home Minister Amit Shah stressed on the need to accept Hindi as an alternative to English and not the local languages.

On rising fuel prices, the BJP leader further said that all state governments have reduced taxes on fuel and asked the Tamil Nadu government to provide relief to the people.

He said that the central government is in the process of taking fuel from Russia, but till then the state government should reduce the tax.
