After resigning from the party, Hardik Patel said, ‘I wasted 3 years in Congress’, the suspense remains on the next step

A day after resigning from the Congress, Patidar leader Hardik Patel on Thursday said he had “wasted” three years of his life in the oldest party and called it the “biggest casteist party” in the country. In his resignation letter, Hardik had alleged that the Congress is not interested in Gujarat as it only opposes policies and programs and has never been able to become an alternative to the ruling party, which people are looking for.

Addressing his first press conference in Ahmedabad after resigning from the party, Hardik said he has not yet taken any decision on joining any other party, be it the ruling BJP in Gujarat or the new AAP.

“I have come before the media for the first time after resigning from the Congress. I joined Congress, felt that I would be able to do good work for the people whose dreams I am carrying with me. In 2017 and 2015, many youths like me came together in the hope of doing some good work when Congress is in opposition,” he told the media.

“I have not been given any responsibility as an executive in the Congress for two years,” Patel said, adding, “I have come to discuss with an open mind and I have campaigned very honestly for the people. Congress is the biggest casteist party. People have benefited from our movement. Congress only adopts the policy of abusing people and throwing them out. Narhari Amin, Chimanbhai Patel were expelled from the Congress. Speaking the truth in Congress is very costly because if someone tries to do so some people do defamation.

Patel claimed that the Congress had no vision and the party leaders were biased against the Gujarati people. “In Gujarat, be it the Patidar community or any other community, they have suffered in the Congress. Speak the truth in Congress and big leaders will defame you and that is their strategy.

The leader said seven to eight people “have been running the Congress for 33 years”. According to Patel, activists like him used to travel 500-600 km daily, but if he went among the people and tried to know their status, big leaders would try to disrupt the effort by “sitting in AC rooms”. Tried.

Patel (28) further said that whenever the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi When they come to Gujarat, the leaders do not tell them about the problems of the people of the state, but they are concerned about “which chicken sandwich to give to Gandhi”.

He said, ‘I spoke to Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi and mentioned the problems of Gujarat. He asked me and I told him. Then I was ignored. I decided to quit the party not with sadness but with courage.” He said, “I have wasted three years in Congress. I apologize to all the people I went to and asked them to vote for Congress. When I was about to join Congress, many people asked me not to join, I have to apologize to them too.

In his resignation letter, he had alleged that even after several attempts, the party failed to work in the national interest and for the society. Congress was a hurdle on issues like implementation of Article 370, CAA-NRC, and GST. Patel had said that these were the aspirations of the people and the need of the hour, for which the Congress should have played a positive role, but it did not happen. The former Congress leader also reiterated his allegations, and said that the party never practiced “solution politics”, only “opposition politics”.

Congress defends itself, blames BJP

Soon after Hardik’s resignation, the opposition party alleged that the BJP had “lured” him by promising to withdraw cases against the Patidar leader and “wrote” his resignation letter.

Congress leader and party spokesperson Shaktisinh Gohil also launched a scathing attack on Hardik, calling him “dishonest” and an “opportunist”, and claimed that young leaders moving to the BJP have been “nullified”. Hardik, who rose to prominence in 2015 after leading an agitation demanding reservation for the Patidar community and being made the working president of Gujarat Congress in July 2020, has accused his top leadership of behaving like they do Gujarat and Gujaratis. hate to

“Hardik Patel has not written anything and his resignation is clearly directed by the BJP… the pen and face is ours and the script belongs to the BJP. This (resignation letter) is completely fake and there is no truth in it.

The development is a setback for the Congress, which is trying to oust the BJP from power in Gujarat, where assembly elections are due in the next few months. Gohil said the Congress gave young leader Hardik Patel an opportunity and made him the working president of Gujarat Congress, but he was “lured” by the BJP.

He alleged, “BJP has forced Hardik Patel to resign by all means, including CDs on him, and has used agencies like Enforcement Directorate and CBI and all measures below the belt. is,” he alleged.

“There are sedition, rioting and many other cases and he cannot contest elections,” he said and claimed that the BJP government has approached the high court to withdraw the cases against him. “Since then the conspiracy was clear that Hardik Patel is going with the BJP to withdraw the cases against him,” he said.
