After Toll Stir, Calls Grow for Entry, Exit Points | Gurgaon News – Times of India

Gurgaon: The under-construction Sohna Elevated Road, which aims to reduce travel time and decongest Sohna Road, is facing protests from people living in colonies on either side of the road in Gurgaon. Residents said that due to the lack of adequate entry and exit points on the elevated road, the service roads between Rajiv Chowk and Vatika Chowk get clogged with traffic, defeating the purpose of the stretch.
Residents living in developed sectors and societies along Sohna Road and villages like Islampur and Tikli approached the Deputy Commissioner on Tuesday demanding multiple entry and exit points for the elevated road. With only one entry point into the area at Rajiv Chowk, the elevated road will be of no use to the people living on the roadside and the society on it. SPR And golf course roadThey said.
Apart from Rajiv Chowk and Sohna, the road has only one entry point – at Ghamroj Toll. 30 villages and residents of Sohna city are already protesting against the establishment of toll plazas in Gamroj.
Ward 29 councilor Kuldeep Yadav told that the elevated road passes through his ward. Yadav, who took a delegation of residents to meet the deputy commissioner, said, “With the construction of the elevated road, the service road near Islampur has narrowed and is now permanently stalled by traffic.”
Sector 48 resident Manoj Sharma said that crossing the road has now become a challenge. He said that after the construction of the elevated road, the traffic in the area has increased.
Apart from the entry/exit points at Subhash Chowk and Vatika Chowk, residents also demanded a U-turn near Sector 48 and a foot-over bridge near Tikli. Deputy Commissioner Nishant Yadav Assured him that he would take up the issue with NHAI in the meeting.
The GMDA had written to the NHAI in March to plan the exit and entry points of the elevated road. A GMDA official said they offered NHAI land for entry/exit near Vatika Chowk. “This will allow people to exit the elevated road at Vatika Chowk and then take SPR if they are heading towards Golf Course Road. People coming from Rajiv Chowk side and going towards SPR and Golf Course Road can also use this highway,” he said.
NHAI officials acknowledged that the road has limited entry and exit points, but claimed that the road was designed as an access control for high-speed travel. “Access control roads have limited entry and exit points,” an official said.
