Ahead of Goa elections, Kejriwal promises unemployment allowance, quota for locals

Arvind Kejriwal has promised 3,000 per month unemployment allowance for the youth of Goa, a state where elections are due next year.

Seeking to grab power from the ruling alliance, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief has also said that, if voted to power, he will make arrangements to provide job to one unemployed youth in each household in Goa.

“They’ll get 3000 per month as unemployment allowance, till they get a job,” he said

Addressing a press conference in Goa, Kejriwal has also promised to give 80% jobs reservation to the youth of Goa and his government will bring a law to provide quota for 80% private jobs as well.

He said, “Youth told me that if anyone wants a government job here, he needs to know any minister, MLA – it is not possible to get a government job in Goa without bribe or recommendation.”

In Panaji, Kejriwal further said, “We will put an end to it. Government jobs here will be the right of the youth of Goa.”

To woo the tourism community, Kejriwal said that the families dependent on tourism and affected by Kovid will be given 5,000 per month till their employment is restored.

“Families dependent on mining are also suffering due to closure of mines, they will also be given 5,000 per month till mining starts,” Kejriwal said.
