AIADMK: AIADMK leader backward in electoral work. Coimbatore News – Times of India

Coimbatore : AIADMK May have finally jolted DMK camp in Coimbatore belt Assembly elections, In less than a year, the DMK has thrown AIADMK’s election campaign into disarray in the Kongu region.
Former minister SP Velumani started the candidate selection process for urban local body elections much later than the DMK in Coimbatore, which was quite obsolete of the Kongu strongman. His former cabinet colleague KP Anbazhagan from Dharmapuri is grappling with the DVAC issue instead of preparing the ground for the elections. Former Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami is also yet to start election work in his home constituency of Salem, while DMK has foreseen by posting senior leader KN Nehru there.
If several reasons are cited for the slow pace of election work by the AIADMK, another important one among them is the issue these leaders are facing. If Velumani and Anbazhagan face probe by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Directorate, the EPS is fighting the DMK government’s efforts to re-investigate the Kodanadu murder and robbery case. Not only in the Kongu region, the election work in the field of other regional stalwarts of the AIADMK, who is facing DVAC cases like C Vijayabaskar, is not in full swing yet. An exception is Namakkal’s P Thangamani, who too was knocked out by DVAC constables last year. The former power minister has been visiting villages, meeting party workers and holding meetings.
The people of AIADMK agree that there is a difference between the election work done by ministers in the past and the present. Party insiders say a key difference is that they are no longer willing to spend. A party functionary said, “They are asking potential candidates to spend for themselves. Apart from their organizational stature, the strength of these leaders was their ability to spend during elections. Now that they are under the ambit of DVAC. , so they are unable to spend.” Coimbatore. There is also the uncertainty of victory and the threat of further action on DVAC cases.
Even the leaders who have no case against them have not yet started the election work in full swing. But AIADMK leader He says that he has asked the office bearers to start the election work by holding a meeting at the district level. Provisional list of candidates has also been prepared in some districts. AIADMK Coimbatore North MLA Amman K Arjunan said, “We are not slowing down. Rather, we have completed the ground work for the elections. We have been preparing the ground for ten years and are now taking concrete steps.”
Former AIADMK MP KC Palaniswami said that both DMK and AIADMK are not ready for urban local body elections. “While the EPS and OPS are reluctant to face the polls for obvious reasons, the DMK is also scared of the mass agitation against the Pongal gift hampers. The party machinery is ready, but the government is not,” he said.
