, Ashutosh Biswas has been appointed as the Executive Director of AIIMS Bhubaneswar. He is Professor and Head of the Unit, Department of Medicine, AIIMS New Delhi. Madhabananda Kar, Professor and Head, Department of Surgical Oncology, AIIMS Bhubaneswar has been appointed as Executive Director of AIIMS Darbhanga.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for appointment of seven persons to the posts of Executive Director of AIIMS at Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Patna, Rishikesh, Guwahati, Awantipora and Darbhanga.
The Executive Director shall serve for a period of three years from the date of assumption of charge of the post (extendable by a further five years) or till he attains the age of 70 years or until further orders. Biswas, Executive Director of the new AIIMS Bhubaneswar, is presently working as Director, Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna. He has done MBBS from SCB Medical College and Hospital Cuttack. Official sources said that he has done PG in General Medicine from MKCG Medical College and Hospital Berhampur.
Before joining IGIMS Patna this year, he was working as Professor in the Department of Medicine at AIIMS New Delhi.
Similarly, Professor and Head of the Department of Surgical Oncology, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Madhabananda Kar became the new Executive Director of AIIMS Darbhanga, the second AIIMS in Bihar. He has completed MBBS from SCB Medical College and Hospital Cuttack and PG from SMS Medical College and Hospital, Jaipur, Rajasthan.
The functioning of AIIMS Bhubaneswar had come to a standstill in the absence of the whole time director for the last five months. Pending files were getting accumulated due to delay in its approval. A whole time director was desperately needed for the effective and smooth running of the hospital.
After the tenure of former director Geetanjali Batmanbane ended in December last year, the Center on December 20 last year handed over additional charge of director AIIMS Bhubaneswar to Mukesh Tripathi, director of AIIMS Mangalagiri.
Advertisement for the post of executive director of seven AIIMS, including AIIMS Bhubaneswar, was released in June last year. The interviews of the eligible candidates were conducted in December last year.
