Air Atlanta Icelandic Boeing 747 engine part collapses after takeoff in Belgium

On 8 September an unexpected incident occurred in Werme, near Lige, Belgium, when an engine part of a Boeing 747 came loose and fell on the roof of a house. A Boeing 747-400F (TF-AMC), flight number CC320, was operating from Lige Airport in Belgium to Malta-Luca Airport on behalf of the Air Atlanta Icelandic airline, but something unexpected soon happened. Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft lost an engine AFT cover. As a result, the engine fell on the garage roof of a house before it fell into the garden, causing a loud noise in the area, leaving everyone in the surrounding area stunned. Initially people thought it was a thunderstorm, but later when they came to know it was nothing less than a shock, a Dutch news organization reports.

The aircraft continued its journey to its destination in Malta without any further malfunction in the flight. Everyone aboard the ship was safe and secure. Later, the engine parts that fell in the garden were replaced by local firefighters and handed over to the airport authorities for further investigation.

Apparently this was the first time such an incident had happened when the engine of an aircraft fell in the middle of the air.
