Airtel deploys private 5G network at Bosch facility in Bengaluru, claims to be India’s first – Times of India

Bharti Airtel announces successful trial of India’s first 5G private network BOSCH Automotive Electronics India Private Limited (RBAI) facility in Bengaluru. Airtel’s on-premises 5G captive private network was built on trial 5G spectrum allotted by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
Airtel has implemented two industrial grade use cases for quality improvement and operational efficiency at Bosch’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility using the test spectrum. In both cases, 5G technology such as mobile broadband and ultra reliable low latency communications accelerated automated operations and reduced downtime.
The private network installed on the test spectrum at the Bosch facility is claimed to have the capacity to handle thousands of connected devices while delivering multi-Gbps throughput. Private 5G networks are said to provide reliability, enhanced security and immense flexibility, freeing operations from wire-dependency to enable Bosch to reap the benefits of automated operations.
In any manufacturing set-up, quality and efficiency are very important tools to measure. with airtel 5g A captive private network, the Bosch Manufacturing Execution System was able to significantly reduce the quality assessment time through Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI) of surface-mounted equipment. The process was made efficient by ensuring rapid transfer of data over a highly reliable and secure network to AI/ML servers for real-time decision making by the Bosch Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
Airtel 5G claims that it helps Bosch shop floor managers and operators to identify and resolve issues in real time thus reducing Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) .
