The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) emerged victorious in the elections held on Saturday to elect a recognized trade union at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP). INTUC and CITU secured the second and third positions respectively. AITUC got 3,481 votes and won with a majority of 466 votes. After this, INTUC got 3,015 votes and CITU got 2,724 votes.
Voting which started early in the morning ended at 4 pm and counting of votes began. Only nine unions were in the fray since nominations were withdrawn on April 8.
