Akasa Air on Monday unveiled the first looks of its crew uniforms as the startup carrier prepares for take-off in the coming weeks.

The airline, backed by veteran stock market investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, may start services by the end of this month.

It took delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in India on June 21 and plans to operate proven flights this week, after which it will get an air operator permit to begin commercial operations.

The company said it is the first Indian airline to introduce custom trousers and jackets, their clothing made exclusively for Akasa Air (using recycled polyester fabric that is made from pet bottle plastic salvaged from marine waste) And comfortable sneakers for your airline- flight crew with ergonomics, aesthetics and comfort in mind.

According to the company, considering the mobile lifestyle and prolonged standing of the crew members, Vanilla Moon designed sneakers that are lightweight, and have extra cushioning from heel to toe to ensure better support.

The sole of the sneakers is carved from recycled rubber and made without the use of plastic.

The airline says the Akasa Air crew jacket design takes inspiration from the Indian bandhgala and takes it to the future.

Designed by Delhi based fashion designer Rajesh Pratap Singh, the jacket takes inspiration from the Indian bandhgala and is looking forward to the modern version of the apparel.

“These uniforms are a perfect amalgamation of style and sustainability and reflect the core values ​​of Akasa Air. From concept to final result, working on these designs and presenting one of the most unique, durable and functional uniforms has been an exciting experience for me. The journey has been of our times,” Singh said.

Last November, Akasa Air announced the order for 72 ‘737 MAX’ aircraft from Boeing. The order includes two variants of the 737 MAX family – the 737-8 and 737-8-200.
