Regarding the future of his alliance with the Samajwadi Party, he said the decision to break or continue with the SP is “left to its chief Akhilesh Yadav”. “If Akhilesh breaks the alliance with SBSP, all options are open for future relations with Bahujan Samaj Party also,” Rajbhar said.
Talking about the reasons for the SBSP’s decision to support Murmu, Rajbhar told TOI on Sunday, “The SP told me, along with all the six party MLAs, attended a meeting with opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha on July 7 in Lucknow. was called to pick up. when we arrived. In the morning, we were informed that the meeting had been cancelled. Though the meeting was held on the same evening in which other alliance partners like RLD chief Jayant Choudhary were present, I was not called.
He said, ‘On July 8, Yogi ji called me, after which I met him with party MLA Bedi Ram. Yogiji said that his party has chosen Murmu from the same sections of the society, for which my party has been raising its voice for a long time. He asked me to attend a dinner organized for Murmu in Lucknow and I joined it. However, the press conference was postponed due to the death of the wife of SP Patron Mulayam Singh Yadav, he said.
“On July 13 (Amit) Shah asked me to reach Delhi. During the meeting, Shah also appealed to support Murmu. We found that when Akhilesh doesn’t want our support, we should go with Murmu.
On the future of the alliance with the SP, Rajbhar said, “Like in the 2022 assembly elections, the SP chief delayed declaring the candidate for Azamgarh and Rampur Lok Sabha Bye-election I stayed in Azamgarh for 12 days and tried my best for the victory of the alliance candidate. Had Akhilesh campaigned in Azamgarh, the coalition candidate would not have lost the by-election, but he did not.
“It hurt the SP chief that a leader of a smaller party was giving him suggestions,” he said, adding that the SBSP has left it to Akhilesh to decide whether he wants to continue the alliance or not. “We are still working round the clock to strengthen the SBSP. If Akhilesh breaks ties with us, we have kept all options open, even forged an alliance with BSP.
