Akshay Kumar, Devendra Fadnavis flag off car, bike rally of police personnel in Mumbai

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India]Aug 14 (ANI): On Saturday morning, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar along with Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis flagged off the police personnel’s race and car and bike rally in Mumbai to mark 75 years of India’s independence.

Around 3,500 police personnel participated in the 10 km race organized by the state government. About 100 four wheelers and 60 bikes took out a rally from Marine Drive.

Several pictures of the rally are going viral on the internet in which Akshay and Fadnavis are seen cheering for the police personnel. Akshay looked very happy while flagging off the rally.

Akshay also expressed solidarity with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign by changing the picture of his Twitter display to tricolour.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Khiladi Kumar recently came out with ‘Raksha Bandhan’ which received mixed reviews. Apart from Akshay, the film also stars Bhumi Pednekar, Sahajmin Kaur, Deepika Khanna, Sadia Khatib and Smriti Shrikant.

The film faced a trend of boycott before its release.

Reacting to the ongoing boycott trend in India, Akshay during a promotional event in Kolkata urged people not to indulge in such activities. He had said, ‘If you don’t feel like watching the film, don’t. It’s a free country and the film is out, so if anyone wants to see it or not, it’s up to them. I would like to tell you, be it any industry, whether it is textile industry, film industry or anything else, they all help the economy. But there is no point in talking like boycotting films.”

In the coming months, Akshay will be seen in ‘Ram Setu’ with Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushrat Bharucha and ‘Selfie’ with Emraan Hashmi. (ANI)
