A new scam of WhatsApp has surfaced. Under the name Rediroff.com, this scam is swirling around metaOwned instant messaging app for a few days. According to reports, fraudsters are using it WhatsApp Scam to rob users of their personal and financial data like bank and card details. Spam links can infect Windows PCs along with iOS and Android smartphones.

It is not known when the scam started, but a report by CNBC indicates that it has influenced a large group of people this holiday season with promises of expensive gifts. According to the report, scammers send a link to WhatsApp users and once the user clicks on the link, a website opens that says users can fill out surveys and win prizes. After the user answers the questions, they are redirected to a website where they are asked to fill in some of their information such as name, age, address, bank information and other personal data.

Once users enter these details, they are with the scammers and there is nothing you can do to change it. These details can be misused to carry out fraudulent transactions or other illegal activities. Scammers can also install potentially unwanted applications on a user’s device.
