Food and Civil Supplies Minister GR Anil has said that all the services of Public Distribution System (PDS) will be shifted to the online platform. The government was expected to launch online services during the first anniversary of the second Pinarayi Vijayan-led LDF government in May.

Mr Anil was speaking while formally inaugurating the Thiruvananthapuram Taluk Supply Office, which was shifted to Kadakampally Mini Civil Station from near the District Court Complex at Vanchiyur on Tuesday.

The Minister said that the Food and Civil Supplies Department has also targeted to set up its own buildings for each of its offices in the State. An e-office system will also be started in each supply office so that ration card holders can get redressal of complaints submitted online.

The Taluk Supply Office is catering to the needs of around 2 lakh ration cardholders who have received essential commodities from 334 ration outlets. The department stood to save ₹29,000 as rent by shifting to the new premises.

Presiding over the function, MLA Kadakampally Surendran said that several government offices including Kadakampally Village Office, District Employment Office, District Employment Training Office and Anayara Family Welfare Sub-Centre would soon start functioning in the Mini Civil Station.

Civil Supplies Director D. Sajith Babu, Thiruvananthapuram Corporation Ward Councilor PK Gopakumar, District Supply Officer CS Unnikrishnakumar and other officials also participated in the function.
