Allahabad University also cancels semester exams, promotes students through internal assessment

NS Allahabad University Offline examination of even semester students for this academic year has been cancelled. Making the announcement via Twitter, the university said that students currently studying in the second, fourth, sixth or eighth semester of their courses will be promoted on the basis of their performance in the internal assessment examinations.

The university tweeted, ‘This decision was taken in the meeting of the examination committee today. 1. Offline examination of even semester (2,4,6,8) is canceled and students will be promoted on the basis of their internal assessment marks.”

The source also said that after the Diwali holidays classes will resume in hybrid mode where students will have the option of attending classes offline or online. Offline classes will start from 17th December subject to prevailing COVID-19 pandemic situation at that time.

Though the semester examination has been cancelled, the university will conduct the annual examination in offline mode in the second week of March next year with all the necessary precautions of the COVID-19 protocol.

However, this is not the first time that the university has canceled the examination process. Last year also the university had promoted students to higher classes by canceling the examination process on the basis of internal assessment.

Earlier this month, the university took admissions for admission to various courses between October 18 and 23. The admission process of the university started after much delay due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The application process was kept open till October 7. This year, students were given the option to choose between offline and online mode depending on their objectives. The university conducted the exam at multiple centers following the COVID guidelines set by the government. Interestingly, this year there are more centers for online exam as compared to offline exam.
