Why did Telugu star Allu Arjun give him so much time till ‘Pushpa’ to make a film for Tamil audience?
Whenever Allu Arjun traveled to other parts of the country, he always warmly met the people of that particular locality for his films. Be it Rajasthan or Kerala, his films dubbed in local languages have done extremely well; Arjun says the most-watched Indian film on YouTube is his.
All of which point out that Allu Arjun is a pan-India star. Still, the actor says that he had missed something till then. Pushpa, Due for a theatrical release this Friday. And that thing was not getting enough praise from Tamil Nadu even though Arjun was born and brought up in Chennai.
He feels that the circle is now complete.
Having spent most of his childhood in Chennai’s T Nagar, Arjun doesn’t get too upset when friends call him a Telugu-speaking Tamilian, “I don’t feel ashamed when people say that. In fact, I think in Tamil,” says Allu Arjun, who was in town to promote his upcoming film Pushpa,
Billed as a pan-India project, the film releases in five languages. Arjun has viewed all versions of Pushpa But especially satisfied with the production in Tamil. “Even though my films have done well in other markets, it is a different feeling when you play in my homeground. [Chennai], I want my childhood friends and tuition teacher to call me after watching the movie; It’s a different kick altogether,” he says, “I wanted to come to Madras with a proper film and that happened Pushpa,
Directed by Telugu filmmaker Sukumar, with whom Arjun worked in Arya movies, Pushpa Located in the Andhra-Tamil Nadu border.
Since the subject of the film takes place in a forested area, the conditions made it even more challenging to shoot. “We had around 400-500 cars in the forest which used to take us from point A to B. In some places, there were no roads and we had to make a way with whatever was available. The filming itself took us almost two years,” Arjun said, “so I say this: the effort we put in for it. Pushpa That’s equal to four films.”

Arjun credits his friend and composer Devi Sri Prasad aka DSP for inspiring him to venture into Tamil cinema. But DSP doesn’t think Pushpa A Telugu film to be released in other languages. “I’ve been telling the bunny ever since I heard the story [Arjun] And Sukumar that it is actually a Tamil film made in Telugu, as most of the story takes place near Tirupati,” says the DSP.
Lyricist-writer Madan Karki performs second. When Allu Arjun’s team approached him to write the Tamil dialogues, Karki felt jealous and wanted to take a break. “I couldn’t say no to them anbu, But when I joined it, I felt that I have got this film.”
More than the film, Karki highlights Pushpa’s character and Arjun’s attitude in the film. “There is a special dialect Arjun speaks in the film. It was a challenge for us to bring it to the Tamil audience.”
Pushpa Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil are also there. Regarding the latter, Arjun says, “I saw him perform live on the sets and really enjoyed what he did. There were moments when I forgot about myself watching him act. ,
