Alaya made her Bollywood debut with Saif Ali Khan’s film ‘Jawani Jaaneman’. After this she was seen in ‘Freddy’.

Alaya F’s debut film was followed by a long silence due to the Covid-19 pandemic and her second release co-starring Kartik Aaryan came almost 2 years after her debut.

Actor Alaya F has completed three years in the film industry. Come this Friday and you will almost be in love with DJ Mohabbat, his third film to release after Jawaani Jaaneman (2020) and Freddy (2022). What also makes this romantic drama – which was in the making for four years – apart from giving filmmaker Anurag Kashyap an opportunity to work with him, is the fact that he signed it even before his big screen debut. Over the years, the world has changed drastically and according to Alaya, so has she.

In an exclusive chat with News18, she talks about growing up immensely and developing a kind of confidence that she didn’t know before. Talking about how she has now learned to turn down offers, which is never easy, Alaya says, “There are so many factors and elements that go into saying yes or no to a film. It’s hard and it’s not too hard to say no. I really listen to my gut a lot. But, of course, there are times when you say no to a project, it becomes difficult because I am new.

Narrating an anecdote, she says, “Once when I was about to go to a meeting, someone told me, ‘When you go to a meeting, you are allowed to express your views. You are not the same girl who has not done any films or who has no idea what is happening. They know that you have shot and completed four projects and now you are on your way to the fifth. You have experience and therefore, a perspective now. So, go there and tell your point of view as well.

And this incident proved to be a pivotal moment in deciding how she wanted to take her career path forward. Alaya explains, “It was quite interesting because I’m usually someone who thinks, ‘How can I say something to someone who has more experience than me? I might not know anything compared to them.’ But there are moments when you realize that at the end of the day, you’re running your career as well. The decisions I make are going to have an impact on me, my career, and the journey ahead of me. So, sometimes- Sometimes, as strange as it sounds, you need to be selfish.

Ask her if she’s picked out one deal-breaker for herself, and the 25-year-old says, “I’m up for almost anything. I don’t mind playing a gray character as long as the overall story resonates with me.

Her first film was followed by a long lull due to the Covid-19 pandemic and her second release co-starring Kartik Aaryan followed almost two years of her first film. While she is looking forward and looking forward to carve a niche for herself in the film industry, Alaya revealed that she is equally nervous because of the expectations around her now. “It’s been three years since my first film released. I feel like I am starting again in many ways. I feel more pressure now. When my first film came out my performance was well reviewed. Now that three years have passed, I feel there are too many expectations from me despite my second film releasing recently. I feel I have shot for three films in the last few years, yet I should have done more. I’m definitely nervous, but I’m more excited than nervous. Mr.
