The Congress general secretary in-charge (communications) said people have shared their concerns on the walk together, including the MSP for farmers, and added that the party is confident that it will fulfill them if voted to power in 2024.

The Congress’ Bharat Jodo Yatra on Tuesday concluded the Haryana leg of its nationwide rally, bringing together all the warring factions of the party ahead of next year’s state elections. Senior leader Jairam Ramesh said the party has resolved to connect with all representatives of the state and is confident of returning to power in 2024.

“Jai Jawan. Hail farmer. Jai Pehalwan – Be it ex-servicemen, farmers or sportspersons, Rahul Gandhi ji has connected with all and promised to solve their problems. We have walked over 255 km in the state, covering seven districts and it has been very successful,” the senior leader told News18 as the rally made a stop-over in Ambala.

Gandhi also led a women’s march in Ambala.

Starting from Nuh, the workers led by Gandhi marched through seven districts, covering Gurugram, Faridabad, Panipat, Karnal, Kurukshetra, as well as Ambala. Several senior leaders including former chief ministers Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Kumari Selja, Deepender Singh Hooda, Randeep Singh Surjewala as well as state chief Uday Bhan also joined Gandhi.

The Congress general secretary in-charge (communications) said people have shared their concerns on the walk together, including the MSP for farmers, and added that the party is confident that it will fulfill them if voted to power in 2024.

“The Congress has fulfilled its promises in the three states it was in power – Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh – and it will fulfill them in Haryana as well,” he said. “But the main goal of the rally is to unite people of all languages, religions and to protect the diversity of the country for which it is known.”

The rally, which started from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on September 7, has so far covered Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh and entered Punjab on Wednesday. Gandhi paid obeisance at the Golden Temple in Amritsar before the start of the Punjab phase.

The yatra will end in Srinagar by January 30, with Rahul Gandhi unfurling the national flag in the state.
