New Delhi: Alt News co-founder mohammed zubair was arrested by Delhi Police Monday for allegedly hurting Religious feelings.
Zubair has been sent on one-day police remand. Zubair’s counsel had filed a bail plea which was rejected by the court on the ground of “non-availability of merits”. According to ANI, the court allowed the Delhi Police’s application for one-day police remand.

According to media reports, Zubair was charged under Indian Penal Code sections 153 (incitement to cause riot-if riot-if not committed) and 295A (outraging religious feelings of any class). Huh.
“Today, during investigation of a case registered against Mohammad Zubair under Section 153A/295A of IPC, he joined the investigation and after having sufficient evidence on record, he was arrested. He was produced before the Duty Magistrate. Further PC remand is being done,” the police said.
The Special Cell has sought a remand of 4 days before the Duty Magistrate.

Police said the case was registered on the basis of a complaint regarding an objectionable tweet allegedly posted by Zubair.
A senior Delhi Police officer said, “The said post by Mohammad Zubair which contains picture and words against a particular religious community is highly provocative and has been done intentionally which is more than enough to incite hatred among the people who are in public. could be detrimental to the maintenance of the peace.” , adding that the case was registered on the basis of a social media post by the complainant.
“During investigation, the conduct of Mohammad Zubair was found suspicious,” said a senior police officer, who underwent custodial interrogation to unravel the conspiracy in the case. Accordingly, he has been arrested and is seeking police custody. Being produced in court.”

Alt News co-founder Prateek Sinha tweeted that “Zubai was summoned on Monday by the Special Cell in connection with the investigation of a 2020 case for which he already had protection from arrest from the High Court.”

“Around 6.45 pm, we were told that Zubair has been arrested in another FIR for which no notice was given, which is mandated under law for the section under which he has been arrested. Repeatedly No FIR copy is being given to us despite the request,” he added.
A few hours later, Sinha tweeted that after the medical examination, “Zubair is being taken to some unknown place. Neither Zubair’s lawyers are being told nor I am being told. We are with him in the police van. I am in. No cop has put any name tag.”
In another tweet, Sinha said Zubair would be produced before the duty magistrate at his residence in Burari. “He is presently detained inside a police bus in Burari for over an hour.” The Special Cell has sought a remand of 4 days before the Duty Magistrate.
