TRR Government Degree College at Kandukur in Prakasam district is poised for a change, thanks to the contributions made by alumni including academicians and politicians.
Since its inception in 1966, around Rs 75 lakh has been raised so far to spread the seeds of knowledge in the lives of the rural poor and give a new look to the college that brings light and color to their lives, its Principal M. According to Ravi Kumar
Prominent alumni include Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao, former HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, retired Vice Chancellor of Vikram Singhpuri University K. Includes Veeraiah. Malakondaiah, Retired Professor of Physics at Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Hari Kumar, Retd. Joint Commissioner of Police S.K. Hussain, Central Police Intelligence Bureau, Mr. Divi Lingaiah Naidu, former municipal president of Kandukur, G Venkata Subbaiah, former district council president of Ongole.
A committee has been constituted by Kandukur MLA and former minister M. Mahidhar Reddy to get ‘A’ grade certification from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for the college.
He is gearing up to organize a function to honor the alumni on March 19, saying, “The founders of the college, Thikavarapu Rami Reddy and Chenchu Rama Naidu, firmly believed that education is the best way to serve humanity. ”
The founding principal, T. Krishna Swamy, made the chair proud with his commitment, noble vision and always readiness for the welfare of the students and this history was continued by many stalwarts, said the principal.
The college offers 10 UG programs and 3 PG programs with the number of students being 730.
