Amazon owner Jeff Bezos will donate most of his wealth

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos will donate most of his wealth to charities that focus on climate change and social and political discrimination. According to Forbes, Bezos is the fourth richest person in the world with a net worth of $124 billion.

In an exclusive interview with CNN, Bezos and his partner, journalist-turned-philanthropist Lauren Sanchez, said they intend to donate most of their wealth to charity during their lifetime and that the couple are currently “building the capacity to be able to give this money away.”

The biggest challenge for him right now is deciding how to distribute his vast wealth.

“The hard part is figuring out how to do it,” he said, further indicating that although he intends to give away the majority of his wealth, he is still looking for ways to maximize profits in the business. Looking for. “It’s not easy. Building Amazon Wasn’t easy. It took a lot of hard work, very smart teammates, hard working teammates, and I’m getting – and I think Lauren is looking for the same thing – that’s charity, philanthropy, very similar.”

“There are so many ways I think you can do even ineffective things,” he said. “So you have to think about it carefully and you have to have fantastic people in the team.”

However, he declined to specify how much and where and what percentage of his money would be spent.

Bezos has committed $10 billion over 10 years, or about 8% of his current net worth, to the Bezos Earth Fund, which Sanchez co-chairs. Its priorities include reducing the carbon footprint of construction-grade cement and steel; pushing financial regulators to consider climate risks; advancing data and mapping techniques to monitor carbon emissions; and creating a large-scale natural, plant-based carbon sink, the CNN report cited.

It was the first time since they started dating in 2019 that Bezos and Sanchez agreed to their first interview together.

Earlier, Bezos was heavily criticized for not signing the Giving Pledge, a promise by hundreds of the world’s richest people to donate the majority of their wealth to charitable causes.
