The action was taken after Cheranmahadevi sub-collector Mohammad Shabbir Alam, who is probing the allegation of torture and recording the statements of the victims. Visited these three police stations on Tuesday, He has directed the police to present the CCTV footage of the police stations on Wednesday.

“Since these three inspectors allegedly failed to stop the ASP from torturing the suspects and did not alert their superiors about the same, they have been placed in vacancy reserve. They will get a clean chit only when their names are cleared in the ongoing investigation by the sub-collector,” said a police source.
