Ambedkar University Delhi likely to open soon after students’ demands

After several students of Ambedkar University Delhi demanded reopening of the university for physical classes, the varsity is contemplating to fully open its campuses by the end of this month, media reports claim.

According to an earlier notification issued by the university, its campus is likely to be reopened in a phased manner. As reported by The Indian Express, in the first phase, the campuses will be open for students from December 22 to 25, so that they can use the common facilities, laboratories and tutorial sessions in small groups.

“After taking stock of the situation, and in pursuance of the Govt. As per the guidelines issued from time to time, the campuses will be fully opened from the week commencing 27 December 2021,” read the notification. The notification further said that it will soon finalize its decision on the season to reopen the university or not and then finalize the classes and offline learning schedule.

The move comes in the wake of several demands raised by student groups regarding the reopening of the university from October. A similar demand has also been made in Delhi University. DU students have taken to Twitter to express their disappointment with the hashtags #DUExam2021 and #ReopenDU. The students said that the online examination is only a “formalization” and requested University officials to reopen physical classes.

This comes after the Delhi government allowed reopening of all classes of schools in the capital. The students said that if schools can reopen then why not colleges.
