Amid controversy over loudspeakers, UP clerics ask Muslims to offer ‘goodbye namaz’ only at home, mosques

Amid the ongoing controversy over the use of loudspeakers, Muslim clerics have appealed to people to offer ‘goodbye’ prayers on the last Friday of Ramzan only at designated places so that others do not face any inconvenience.

Meanwhile, the administration has tightened security at many places considered sensitive.

According to the guidelines issued for Goodbye Namaz, people can offer Namaz at home or in mosques. Along with this, it has also been advised to keep the sound of loudspeakers according to the prescribed standards. This is the first time that Muslim religious leaders are coming forward and appealing to the people not to offer Namaz on the streets.

Sunni cleric Sufiyan Nizami of Darul Uloom Farangi Mahal has said that prayers should be offered inside the mosque premises and not on the road. The sound of the loudspeaker should also be kept as per the standard. At the same time, ADG Law and Order UP Prashant Kumar has said, ‘Extensive security arrangements have been made. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had issued guidelines regarding Friday prayers only last week, after which this arrangement has been made in the entire state.

According to the DGP headquarters, there will be goodbye prayers at 19,949 mosques, 7,436 Idgahs and 2,846 other places on Friday. These 2,846 places have been marked as vulnerable. Apart from this, 2,705 places have also been considered sensitive. Tight security arrangements have been made at all these places.

Besides the local police, 46 company PACs and seven company CAPFs have been deployed in the districts. Two Deputy Superintendents of Police have also been sent to Moradabad and Prayagraj. Along with this, 1,492 police trainees will also be engaged in the duty of security arrangements. All the zonal ADGs and IG-DIGs of the range have been instructed to cooperate with the police captains of the districts and extend all possible cooperation.
