Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India]Jan 19 (ANI): Billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s youngest son Anant Ambani got engaged to Radhika Merchant in Antilia on Thursday.

The couple had a traditional engagement ceremony where they performed age old Gujarati rituals like Gol Dhana and Chunri Vidhi.

Gol Dhana is a pre-wedding ceremony in Gujarati tradition, which is a kind of engagement. Gol means jaggery and dhana means coriander seeds.

These items are delivered at the groom’s house where the event takes place. The bride’s family arrives at the groom’s house with gifts and sweets and then the couple exchange rings. After exchanging rings, the couple seeks blessings from their elders.

The Ambani family warmly welcomed the business family to their residence amidst aarti and chanting of mantras.

Ananth and Radhika have known each other for a few years now and their engagement ceremony brought them closer to their wedding in the coming months.

Soon after their engagement ceremony, the couple was seen posing in front of the papacy with their family members in traditional attire.

Recently, the couple had a traditional roka ceremony at the Shrinathji temple in Nathdwara, Rajasthan.

Radhika is the daughter of Viren Merchant, CEO of Encore Healthcare. She is a resident of Kutch, Gujarat. She has trained in Bharatnatyam for eight years and is a disciple of Guru Bhavna Thakar of Sri Nibha Arts. In June 2022, Radhika made headlines after the Ambani family hosted a grand Arangetram ceremony at the Jio World Centre. ‘Arangetram’ is a Tamil word which means a dancer ascending the stage on completion of formal training. This is the first stage performance of a student of Indian classical dance and music after years of training.

Son of Nita and Mukesh Ambani, Anant completed his studies at Brown University in the USA and has since held various positions in Reliance Industries including as a member on the board of Jio Platforms and Reliance Retail Ventures. He currently heads the energy business of RIL. (ANI)
