Andhra Pradesh: BJP demands withdrawal of hike in electricity rates

BJP state vice-president and former MLA P. Vishnu Kumar Raju has said that people are hurt by the policies of the YSR Congress Party government and will teach it a lesson in the next general elections.

The BJP on Friday staged a protest outside the APEPDCL corporate office in Sitammadhara, demanding withdrawal of the hike in power tariff.

BJP leaders and workers staged a sit-in in front of the gate and raised slogans against the Jagan Mohan Reddy government for burdening the common people with all kinds of taxes.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Raju said that the State Government has introduced garbage tax like never before and the increase in property tax is a huge burden on the common people. He said that the electricity tariff slab has been revised and consumers consuming less electricity will have to pay much higher charges than before.

BJP Visakhapatnam Parliamentary District President Ravindra Medapati presided.

Anakapalle parliamentary district president SVS Prakash Reddy, district general secretary VSN Prasad Koppisetty party’s official spokesperson Suhasini Anand and party leader Kasapu VVV Satyanarayana were among those who participated.
