Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi today to discuss various issues regarding his state including special category status, pending funds from the Center and dues with neighboring Telangana payment is included. He urged the PM to expedite work on several issues pending even after nine years of bifurcation of the state.
Later he also met Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss the same.
In a memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister, Mr. Reddy requested to draw his attention to several bilateral issues pending between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He reminded the PM that a committee headed by the Union Finance Secretary, which was constituted on the issues mentioned in the Andhra Pradesh Reassessment Act, has already held several rounds of discussions, but some issues remain unresolved.
Mr Reddy said Rs 36,625 crore is pending under Resource Gap Funding for the financial year 2014-15, and demanded its immediate release. He also asked for the loan limit of Rs 42,472 crore, which was provided in 2021-22, to be reduced by Rs 17,923 crore during the Covid pandemic.
The memorandum said, “The state borrowing limit is now restricted as the previous government had borrowed more than the limit. Though not the fault of this government, they have also reduced the loan limit given as per the norms.”
Further, Chief Minister Reddy requested the Prime Minister to sanction Rs 10,000 crore in an ad-hoc manner to fast-track the Polavaram project, besides immediately sanctioning Rs 55,548 crore for the same project as estimated by the Technical Advisory Committee, in which Includes treatment of drinking water supply components. Part of it.
“I appeal that the flood victims of Polavaram project should be compensated at the earliest. I want to bring to your notice that as the delay increases, the cost of the project increases. If so, delay can be avoided. In a DBT manner,” the chief minister said.
He appealed to PM Modi to accept the Technical Advisory Committee’s revised estimates of Rs 55,548 crore on the Polavaram project, treat the drinking water supply component as its part and parcel and release Rs 10,000 crore immediately on an ad hoc basis to expedite construction.
He also sought reimbursement of dues of Rs 2,600.74 crore incurred by the state government on the Polavaram project.
Mr Reddy called upon the Telangana government to immediately release the dues of Rs 7,058 crore owed to APGENCO, especially from the DISCOMS of the neighboring state, for the power supplied between 2014 and 2017.
According to Mr Reddy, faulty selection of beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act had forced the state to bear a financial burden of Rs 5,527 crore for supplying ration to 56 lakh families under PMGKAY.
“To compensate for this, the unutilized ration stock should be allocated to Andhra Pradesh as per the recommendation of NITI Aayog,” he added.
Among other demands, the chief minister appealed to PM Modi to allow 12 medical colleges in the state, for which approval was pending, to allot necessary mines to APMDC to meet the raw material requirements of the steel plant in YSR Cuddapah district. And grant special status to Andhra Pradesh as promised by the Center in Parliament.
