Andhra Pradesh government employees protest against pay revision

Employees, teachers took out ‘Chalo Vijayawada’ rally demanding withdrawal of pay revision order

Amaravati:

Thousands of government employees and teachers from Andhra Pradesh took out a march on the streets of Vijayawada city on Thursday to protest against the recent pay revision.

The BRTS road looked like a sea of humanity as agitating employees and teachers from Andhra Pradesh took out a ‘Chalo Vijayawada’ rally and demanded the government to immediately withdraw the “black orders” related to pay revision.

Chief Secretary Sameer Sharma appealed to the agitating employees to withdraw the indefinite strike call from February 7.

Calling the employees, he said, “There are some problems but we are ready for discussion. What will you get from the strike? Let us sit and resolve this issue.”

Addressing the reporters along with Finance Special Chief Secretary SS Rawat and Principal Secretary Shashi Bhushan Kumar, Mr Sharma said, “Like Telangana, we had given only Dearness Allowance and not 27 per cent Interim Relief (IR), we would at least Could have saved less. Rs 10,000 crore in the last 30 months. IR is like an interest free loan to be recovered, call it by any name.”

However, he also said that the government will follow the directions of the High Court in this regard.

The High Court, while hearing a PIL against wage revision, had issued an interim order two days ago directing the state government not to make any recovery from the salaries of the employees.

The Chief Secretary said that IR cannot be part of the salary.

“It is only an interim relief between the old and new pay revision, which has to be adjusted later. One can call it recovery or adjustment or whatever, but it is like interest free loan,” he said.

The bureaucrats once again claimed that the “gross salary” for the month of January was “higher” than the previous month due to the wage revision.

“Salaries may have 10 or 11 components but you have to look at the aggregate. It is pure arithmetic and no logic. It shows a clear increase in gross,” he said, dismissing the lamentation of employees over the salary cut. Gone.

Earlier, leaders of the Pay Revision Commission Sangharsh Samiti, while addressing a large gathering here, said, “This is a historic struggle. Lakhs of employees are behind us. Even the police are behind us.” He rejected the claim of the ruling YSR Congress that vested interests were behind the workers’ agitation.

The leaders of the Sangharsh Samiti said, “This government should understand what the strength of the employees is. Once we go on an indefinite strike from February 7, the government will be responsible for any inconvenience caused to the people.”

For the past few days, AP government employees, teachers and pensioners have been strongly opposing the recent pay revision, saying it is detrimental to their interests.

He said that instead of increasing the pay, the order of pay revision has come out as a cut in everyone’s salary.

He said that from February 5, the employees would adopt “non-cooperation” before the indefinite strike from midnight of February 6.
