Andhra Pradesh: Naidu making unwarranted criticism on creation of new districts: Amarnath

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) official spokesperson and Anakapalli MLA Gudivada Amarnath has alleged that Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu, who during his tenure failed to create new districts to take the administration closer to the people, is now facing unwarranted criticism. On the creation of new districts

Addressing a media conference here on Monday, Mr Amarnath said that Mr Naidu never thought of creating more districts after the bifurcation of the state. He also had no plans to name a single district after TDP founder and former chief minister NT Rama Rao.

The creation of new districts was welcomed by the people but Mr Naidu, Jana Sena Party (JSP) president Pawan Kalyan and communist leaders were unhappy, he said. He said that when the combined Visakhapatnam district had 15 assembly constituencies, now two new districts were formed: Anakapalli, with Anakapalli as the headquarters, and Alluri Sitaramaraju with the headquarters at Paderu.

Similarly, the three districts of North Andhra have been made into six districts. Similarly, in other areas of the state, new districts were formed keeping in mind the aspirations of the local people, taking the total districts in the state to 26.

He alleged that Mr Naidu only sought to increase the assembly constituencies in the state to 225 and release Rs 4 lakh crore for the construction of the capital. He went back on the demand for special category status (SCS) and agreed to take the special package and even told the Center that his government would build the Polavaram project.

Mr Amarnath said the Chief Minister had agreed to make the latter constituency Kuppam a revenue department on the request of the Leader of the Opposition.

He called upon Shri Pawan Kalyan to come up with his own clear stand instead of following the instructions of Shri Naidu.
