‘Housing program will not only boost economic activities but will also increase GSDP’

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has said that house pattas will be given to all eligible poor people as his government has no intention of denying benefits to any person.

Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy was speaking after distributing pattas to the identified beneficiaries under the ‘Navaratnalu-Pedalandariki Illu’ scheme at Payidawada Agraharam in Sabbavaram mandal of Anakapalli district on Thursday.

All facilities like electricity, school and park will be developed in the layout. Eligible persons who have not been allotted the site can submit their claim by contacting the Ward/Village Secretariat along with necessary documents. Pattas will be given to eligible persons after scrutiny of their applications,” the chief minister said.

He said that 30.76 lakh housing site pattas have been distributed in the state. “Construction of 15.60 lakh houses has started in 17,000 Jagannath housing colonies in the first phase. The second phase will also start soon. Single bedroom, living room, kitchen and verandah can be built in a plot of 50 square yards. Two fans and four LED bulbs will also be given to the beneficiaries,” said Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The housing program will also boost economic activities and increase the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP).

employment generation

“The housing project will also generate employment in the form of 25.92 crore man-days,” the chief minister said, and alleged that TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu could not build five lakh houses for the poor during his tenure as Chief Minister. But during that period he was able to build a palatial house for himself in Hyderabad.

Shri Jagan Mohan Reddy said that his government has ensured transparency in the selection of beneficiaries. The applicant’s caste and political affiliation was not considered, which was evident from the selection of some TDP workers, he said, and appealed to the people to compare the performance of his government with the performance of the TDP.

Paidivada Agraharam alone will have 10,228 houses. All basic amenities like roads, electricity and drain will be provided in the colony. He said that temporary godowns would be constructed for storage of construction material to prevent delay in construction.

Housing Minister Jogi Ramesh said that Agraharam would be developed as a municipality in a few years.
