Anganwadi Preschools in Jhansi were revamped. Kanpur News – Times of India

Jhansi: It is a dream come true for six-year-old Mahesh Ahirwar of Banka Pahari village under Gursaryan block of the district to see his poor Anganwadi school being transformed into a modern and luxurious classroom. With colorful walls and colorful furniture, it now looks no less than a private school.
Not only this, but hundred such preschools running in different Anganwadis across the district have undergone a complete transformation under the BALA – Building as Learning Aid scheme in the recent pandemic days.
BALA is meant to transform these Anganwadis so as to make every corner of the building attractive including furniture and enhance activity based learning as well as be used as education tools.
According to Chief Development Officer CDO JhansiShailesh Kumar, “Since buildings are the most expensive physical asset of a school, an effort has been made to make the most of it. Also we have used vibrant colors to attract the children to come to the school. We have done its rejuvenation program 60-70 thousand per school for Rs.60-70 thousand. As the schools are yet to reopen, we are waiting to observe the acceptance level of the children and their parents.”
Speaking to TOI, DM Jhansi, Andra Vamsi said, “The campaign to rejuvenate these Anganwadis by getting maximum output from the building’s exterior, interior, exterior spaces and structures by innovatively modifying them is more for school education. To attract more children. Thus involving children towards creative learning. It will also help in promoting activity based learning and inclusive education for children with special needs.
