Ankita Bhandari murder case: The Uttarakhand High Court has directed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Ankita Bhandari murder case to file a status report along with the case diary.

A single bench of Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra passed this order on Thursday (October 20) while hearing the petition of Ashutosh Negi, a resident of Pauri Garhwal.

The court has fixed November 3 (Thursday) for the next hearing of the matter.

The petitioner has requested that the investigation of the case be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Bhandari (19) was allegedly murdered by the owner of a resort where she worked as a receptionist.

It is alleged that after the murder, important evidence related to the crime was destroyed by running a bulldozer at Vanantara Resort on the instructions of Yamkeshwar MLA Renu Bisht.

Bhandari was allegedly murdered by the resort’s owner Pulkit Arya, manager Saurabh Bhaskar and assistant manager Ankit Gupta when he resisted their efforts to force a VIP guest to offer “extra services”.

This massacre had created a huge outrage among the people.

Arya, who is now in jail along with the other two accused, is the son of former BJP leader Vinod Arya, who was expelled from the party soon after the murder came to light.

Bhandari’s body was recovered from the Chilla canal in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand on 24 September.
