In a stern letter to the CM of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal, Anna He said that after coming to power, he has forgotten all the ideologies and values of the movement.
Anna said in his letter, “Like the intoxication of liquor, political power is also intoxicated. You (Kejriwal) are also intoxicated by such power, it seems.”
The veteran Gandhian also criticized Delhi’s new excise policy. “The new liquor policy encouraged the sale and consumption of liquor. Liquor shops were being opened in every corner of the city. This is very bad for the general public,” Anna said in the letter.
Caught in the circle of ‘power for money and power for money’
“Had expected a similar policy (like Maharashtra). But you didn’t. People are trapped in power for money and money for money. It doesn’t suit a party which is fighting a big movement. has emerged,” he writes.
The excise policy was passed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi cabinet in 2021 in the midst of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic. The Delhi government’s version is that the policy was formulated to ensure the generation of optimum revenue and eliminate sales. The CBI had registered a case against alleged corruption in the excise policy for 2021-22. Later the AAP government withdrew the excise policy.
Earlier this month, the CBI had raided the official residence of Manish Sisodia in connection with alleged corruption in the implementation of Delhi’s excise policy.
