Announcement of reward to the person giving information about the whereabouts of the accused in Arudhara Gold Scam

The Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) on Sunday announced a reward for information on the whereabouts of the five accused in the Aarudhara Gold Pvt Ltd scam. It also assured informers that they would remain anonymous.

A senior EOW official said the team has arrested 11 of the 16 people involved in the scam and they are in judicial custody. The five main accused – V. Rajasekhar of Villivakkam, V. Usha of Mogappair, V. Deepak Govind Prasad of Poonamallee, B. Narayani and C. Rumesh Kumar of Chettipunyam, Chengalpattu – still absconding.

A total of 1.09 lakh depositors had filed complaints against the firm for defrauding them of Rs 2,438 crore, the police official said. Based on the complaint, a case was registered and investigation started on May 24. Police raided 37 places in nine districts of the firm. The EOW officials also conducted searches at 57 locations identified by the team in the state.
