A coalition of 40 organizations will take out a protest march against the anti-conversion bill from Mysore Bank Circle to Freedom Park in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
Peter Machado, Archbishop, Archdiocese of Bangalore, said the bill was “an attack on Christmas Eve”. He added, “We will take this in our stride and pray for them too… The government is under pressure from certain groups to pursue their agenda.”
Commenting on the bill’s provisions, the archbishop said it “encompasses all” and will affect the service provided by the community. “Any aid or concession provided by any of our institutions working in the fields of education, health, senior citizen care and orphanages to any member who is not from the Christian community shall be treated as an inducement to convert May go”.
