Anti-encroachment drive: Noida authority team backs off after locals threaten to throw acid

Locals living in an illegal colony threatened to throw acid on Noida Authority officials if they arrived with bulldozers to conduct an anti-encroachment drive.

Locals residing in an illegal colony near Sector 81 metro station threatened to throw acid on Noida Authority officials after they reached the site with bulldozers for an anti-encroachment operation.

According to the information, there is an illegal colony near Sector 81 metro station, in which hundreds of houses are built. At around 10 am on Wednesday, Noida Authority officials along with the police and bulldozers arrived to demolish these illegal colonies.

Seeing the bulldozer with the team, the people around got furious and gathered in large numbers. They started shouting slogans against the power and threatened to attack them with acid.

The officers suspended the drive and retreated after about four hours.

The officials have lodged a police complaint against the local people for obstructing government work.

Noida Authority is taking continuous action against illegal construction in the city. Earlier, the authority had bulldozers on dozens of illegal farm houses built in the Yamuna floodplain.
