Mandal underwent several tests at the hospital and was examined by a team of doctors before being taken to the CBI’s Nizam’s Palace office for questioning.
TMC leader Anubrata Mondal was on Sunday taken to the CBI office at Nizam’s Palace after a medical examination at the Defense Command Hospital in Kolkata, officials said.
Mandal, who has several chronic ailments, underwent several tests at the hospital and was examined by a team of doctors. He said the medical examination was conducted on the directions of the court, which asked the agency to regularly monitor his health.
He was then taken to the Nizam Palace office of the CBI for further interrogation in the animal smuggling case. A CBI team on Thursday picked up the Birbhum district president of TMC and arrested Mandal from his residence in Bolpur.
He had skipped CBI summons several times citing his health issues.
