Apple CEO Tim Cook shares Diwali image of Mumbai photographer, says ‘beautiful’

Apple CEO Tim Cook extended Diwali greetings to his followers on Monday morning and gave a shout-out to Mumbai-based photographer Apeksha Makar. Mr Cook shared a picture of Ms Makar on Twitter and said that the picture beautifully depicts why Diwali is called the festival of lights.

The image, which was shot on an iPhone, showed Diwali decorations. It depicts the henna-adorned hands of a woman with a ‘diya’ (earthen lamp).

Apeksha Makar shared a screenshot of Mr Cook’s tweet on Instagram and said she was “humbled” to see the Apple CEO sharing a picture of himself. Ms Makar wrote on social media, “Humbled and shocked to post my #shotoniphone image #TimCook @apple for Diwali! Wishing you all the best.”

As per her Instagram bio, Ms Makar is a professional photographer who has worked with top brands and celebrities including Kiara Advani, Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma. She is also the founder of House of Pixels.

Meanwhile, last month, Tim Cook also praised the 9-year-old girl Living in Dubai to design iOS apps for iPhones. A girl named Hana Muhammad Rafiq initially wrote her claiming to be the youngest iOS developer. She had developed “Hans,” a storytelling app that allows parents to record stories.

In response to her email, in which she described her app and other achievements, the Apple CEO applauded her. Tim Cook wrote to her, “Congratulations on all your impressive achievements at such a young age. Keep it up and you’ll do amazing things in the future.”
