“We believe that Arm-based notebook PC processors provide an attractive opportunity for Qualcomm, given the company’s growing collection of high-performance processor assets,” Kundozzala said.

The research firm noted that the Arm-based mobile computing market outperformed the x86-based mobile computing market in revenue and units. x86 is a chip system architecture developed by Intel four decades ago.

Strategy Analytics forecasts that total Arm-based mobile computing chip revenue in 2021 will exceed the x86 architecture by about 20%, excluding chipsets and discrete GPUs.
