Apple is rumored to be testing a Type-C port for its future phones. Currently, Apple uses the Lightning connector in iPhones. News reports claim it may be related to European regulations. It further claims that even if this is true, the Type-C port could be practical only next year. USB-C chargers tend to be slightly larger than the Lightning connector, but can offer faster charging speeds and data transfer. The new connectors will also be compatible with many existing chargers for non-Apple devices such as Android phones and tablets.
