Apple likely to go ‘extreme’ with its M2 chipset lineup – Times of India

Apple is making multiple iterations of its base chip based on different devices. For example, Apple introduced the M1 Pro, M1 Max and M1 Ultra for MacBook Pro laptops and the new Mac Studio. Basically, Apple keeps improving its chip to cater to different types of users and power different types of devices. Macworld has done some research and based on the visit of the M1 chip lineup it has been reported that Apple may be launching a new one.extremeNext year the version of the M2 chip that is likely to power a new Mac Pro desktop.
According to the report, Apple will introduce the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips in the coming months, which will power the next generation of MacBook devices. The report claims that it will have a high-performance chip and is expected to go beyond the ‘Ultra’ branding with Apple’s M2 lineup.
As per the report, Apple is speculated to launch the M2 Extreme chip and Macworld has observed that Apple has doubled down on the spec sheet to offer better performance. For example, while the regular M2 comes with an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU, the M2 Pro will likely offer 48GB of RAM support along with a 10-core CPU and 20-core GPU and is expected to come with the M2 Max. 40-core GPU and 96GB RAM support. Following that trend, the M2 Extreme will offer up to 384GB of RAM support, along with a 48-core CPU and 160-core GPU, according to Macworld.
A redesigned Mac Pro with codenames Z2C-Die and Z4C-Die is also in the works and the M2 Extreme chip is likely to power the new Mac Pro.
It is important to note that all the information here should be taken with a pinch of salt as Apple has not announced or confirmed anything about the M2 Extreme chipset and the redesigned Mac Pro.
